Shari Rabin
Shari Rabin was assistant professor of Jewish studies in the Yaschik/Arnold Jewish Studies Program and director of the Pearlstine/Lipov Center for Southern Jewish Culture until summer 2019, when she became assistant professor of Jewish studies and religion at Oberlin College. A historian of American Judaism, she earned a PhD in religious studies from Yale University in 2015. She is the author of Jews on the Frontier: Religion and Mobility in Nineteenth-Century America, winner of the National Jewish Book Award in American Jewish Studies and finalist for the Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish Literature.
Dale Rosengarten
Dale Rosengarten, associate director of the Pearlstine/Lipov Center for Southern Jewish Culture, is the founding director of the Jewish Heritage Collection at the College of Charleston Library. Dr. Rosengarten earned her B.A. and Ph.D. from Harvard University. Working with McKissick Museum at the University of South Carolina, she developed the travelling exhibition A Portion of the People: Three Hundred Years of Southern Jewish Life (2002-03) and co-edited a book by the same name. While assembling a distinguished archives on southern Jewish history and culture, Dale has continued to pursue her other chief field of interest – the African-American tradition of coiled basketry.
Michael R. Cohen
Michael R. Cohen is Chair and Associate Professor at the Department of Jewish Studies at Tulane University, where he holds a Sizeler Professorship and regularly teaches courses in American Jewish history. Cohen is the author of The Birth of Conservative Judaism: Solomon Schechter’s Disciples and the Creation of an American Religious Movement and Cotton Capitalists: American Jewish Entrepreneurship in the Reconstruction Era.
